Raleigh
Raleigh is the complete interior renovation and reconfiguration of a classic mid-century home in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood of Southwest Portland. Working with a hands-on owner, we were engaged to bring structure and rigor to both the design process and construction documents. Our involvement continued through construction, with site observations, contractor meetings, and detailed coordination of kitchen details and cabinetry, including procurement assistance.
The project consists of revised layout and finishes on all levels, both increasing the usefulness of the private spaces and creating a single strong communal space on the main level. The former Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Family Room (which was even earlier a Garage) were combined into a singular living space, with implied definition of spaces with cabinetry and ancillary volumes like Bathroom and Storage. Through these improvements, the house was fundamentally reinvented, all within the existing footprint and building envelope.
The project was designed in 2022 and completed in 2023.
